The Riverside Softball Program is excited to announce Karen Avvisato as the newest member of the Varsity Softball Coaching staff. Karen is a highly respected member of the softball coaching community with nearly 30 years of coaching experience at the youth, travel and high school levels. After being a four-year starting SS at Miami University of Ohio, Karen went on to be the Head Softball Coach at Bishop O’Connell where she worked as a Health and PE teacher. She was inducted as a member of the O’Connell Hall of Fame for both softball and basketball. Karen also served as President of Leesburg Girls Softball from 2010-2015. Currently Karen serves as Fairfax County’s Director of Athletic Services for the Department of Neighborhood and Community Services and lives in Leesburg with her husband Frank and 2 children, Anthony and Kaylie.
