The JV game vs. Woodgrove for Monday, Oct. 2nd has been cancelled. 

Instead JV/Varsity will practice on Monday, Oct. 2nd at 5:30pm starting with Film. Then we will go outside for our practice. We will practice from 6:30pm-8:30pm. We will start on the practice turf and then move to the stadium once the Freshman game is over. This will allow our student-athletes a chance to meet with teachers before or after school on Monday, Oct. 2nd.

Come out and watch our Riverside football team practice beginning at 5:00PM! Dinner will be served at 6:00PM.

 Where:  Parking lot of the Riverside HS Football Stadium. In the event of bad weather, our back-up location will be the Riverside HS Cafeteria.

Cost: $10/Adults and kids under 10 eat free. This includes main item (hamburger, hot dog or veggie burger), sides, drinks and dessert.

Bring: Folding Chairs to relax in!

Tomorrow we are hosting our 3rd Annual Blue & Grey scrimmage. We will also be having our fundraiser tomorrow for all of the players selling our discount cards. 

Practice will begin at 8am as normal. Our scrimmage portion will start at 9am. ALL Parents are welcome to come sit in the stadium stands and participate. 

The scrimmage will go as follows:

Varsity vs. Varsity

Freshman vs. Freshman

Varsity vs. Varsity

Freshman vs. Freshman

JV vs. JV

After the scrimmage the players will come up to the locker room and eat lunch. We will have pizzas delivered for them and feed them before they go out to sell cards. At around 11am-11:30am Players will receive their 25 cards and instructions. They will sell from 11am-4pm where they will come back to turn in their sales. After they turn in their sales they can go home. 

We will also be having our Family Movie Night here at the stadium. We encourage all families to come participate and watch the Blindside in the stadium on the turf. the gates will open at 7:30pm,

We will have a regular morning practice from 8:00 am-10:30 am tomorrow morning.  The afternoon practice will be inside and we will be lifting in the weight room and doing film sessions in the classroom.  We will go 12:15 pm-1:45 pm for tomorrows afternoon practice.  Kids will still need their lunches and please make sure players are bringing a pair of tennis shoes (for the weight room) along with flip flops. 

Sidenote- Please make sure players are drinking plenty of water (at least a gallon each night) and adding a little salt to their dinners.

The last two days players have had excellent work ethic and I appreciate everyone's cooperation.

Dear Players and Parents,

This is a reminder of the first day of two-a-days is Monday, July 31st. Players need to arrive at 7:30am at the football stadium. Our AD will check in the players at 7:45am to make sure the proper paperwork (as outlined in the football packet) has been turned in. If a player can't practice because of lack of paperwork that is considered an unexcused absence and make up conditioning will apply as outlined in the football packet. 

Parents and Players also need to both sign then turn in the Player Information Sheet. (top sheet of the football packet) Failure to do so will also result in players not allowed to practice and will be an unexcused absence.

What to wear to practice?

 Players will need their cleats, helmets, practice jersey and athletic gear for the first three practices. I recommend players bring a change of socks and flip flops to allow their feet to air out. 

Lunch-

Players need to bring their lunch each day. Players are not allowed to leave in between practices.

All players should be registering for the Westfield Team Camp. If you need another camp registration paper it is under the Team Files Tab on RiversideRams.net.

We will not have lifting for anyone on MONDAY 6/12 or Tuesday 6/13.

Wednesday, 6/14-ALL football players including rising 9th graders will report on Wednesday for summer lifting and conditioning at 7:45am. We will have a combine for ALL football players testing their 40 yard dash, pro agility shuttle, HT, WT, & Vertical. Players will need bring both cleats, tennis shoes and work out gear. 

ALL football players who have just ended their amazing spring seasons in Varsity Lacrosse, Baseball and Soccer. This next upcoming week you need to take an active rest week for recovery and take a break. We want all of you to attend the team camp on 6/19-6/22 from 9am-11am at Tuscarora HS. If you haven't signed up yet please go to the CLYFL.org website and get it done.

Equipment Handout-We will hand out equipment for the upcoming team camp on Wednesday, 6/14 after we are done with the combine and lifting. Around 10am-noon. Players will receive their helmet, shoulder pads and practice jersey.

The last Team Camp is the Westfield Team Camp at Westfield HS from 5pm-8pm July 17th-20th. That registration is in the football packet and needs to be turned in to Coach Day with a check made out to the Westfield Athletic Booster Club.

I need to know if your 8th-11th grade player will or will NOT be playing in this Sunday's 7/7 league games due to Spring Break. Players will not be penalized for missing. I just need to know. If we don't have enough we will cancel this Sunday's games but I just need to know by Tomorrow, April 5th.

There will be no games on April 16th the following Sunday. This is for our 8th grade team and our Varsity team.

Also we will be splitting our Varsity into two teams so we can get more reps. We will have a Riverside 1 and Riverside 2 teams.

This week is fall testing for those who are interested in playing football next season.

Wednesday- 300 yard running test. (Varsity Players MUST make their Varsity times.)

Each day once a player is finished his testing they are free to go home.

Coach Day will meet with offensive players to finish their offensive packets on Monday after testing. These are the packets the players received at Team Camp last week.

This spring Evergreen Sportsplex 7on7 league starts this Sunday, 4/2/17.  Rising Freshman will report to Evergreen Sportsplex at 5:15pm with their athletic gear, cleats, gloves, water, ect. The freshman team will play at 6:15pm, 6:45pm, and 7:15pm. Freshman should be done by 8pm.

Varsity (10th-12th) should report by 7:00pm at Evergreen Sportsplex. We will wear blue tops and grey shorts. Varsity should end by around 9pm.

Parents are more than welcome to be at the games and there are stands for you to sit in. On the other fields you might want to bring lawn chairs.

We are always looking for parents who are interested in helping us film each game so we as coaches can teach from the film.

Freshman football has been asked if they would be willing to add a game vs. John Champe HS for next week since another HS had to cancel their game. We will play at John Champe HS on Monday, Oct. 30th at 5:30pm.

Our regular season doesn't end until Nov. 4th and the program has a bye week that week for the program. We will also be adding a few sophomores to help add depth and allow them to get some game reps.

The freshman staying out will practice with the Varsity/JV this week and will play on Monday at 5:30pm

?Tues & Wednesday we will practice 4:30pm-7pm

?Thursday we will practice 4:30pm-6pm and team dinner from 6pm-7pm.

Friday we have our Homecoming Game vs. Park View at 7pm.

Saturday will be equipment turn in day for all varsity/jv players except those kids playing in the game on Monday vs. John Champe. Practice will be 9am-11am.  

Monday, Oct. 30th Freshman Game @John Champe 5:30pm. Those players will turn in their equipment after the game on Monday, Oct. 30th.

THERE WILL BE NO SUBWAY MEAL ORDERED FOR YOUR PLAYERS FOR THIS GAME. YOU WILL NEED TO SEND IN AN EXTRA LUNCH OR FOOD FOR THEM.

If there is an issue with a player staying out for an extra week please fell free to email Coach Day to let me know so we can collect their equipment. We want to make the most out of this opportunity for kids and at the same time help them get better.

The Tuscarora scrimmage will be on Wednesday, 8/16 due to inclement weather on Thursday. 

Freshman will be at 4:30pm

Varsity/JV will be at 6:15pm.

Due to inclement weather coming in on Friday we have moved the Freshman and Varsity scrimmage to Thursday Aug 10th. Freshman will scrimmage Broad Run at 3:00pm in the stadium and Varsity/Developmental will scrimmage Manassas Park at 4:30pm in the stadium. 

Players will come in at 8:00am on Thursday morning for a pregame walk thru/light practice and be done at 9am. Freshman need to return to Riverside at 1:30pm for the pre-game meeting and Varsity/Developmental need to report at 3:00pm.  

Friday we will have film/lift at 8:00am and players will be done for the day at 11:00am. 

There will be no practice on Saturday, August 12^th. The players will return to practice on Monday, August 14^th at 4pm-7pm. Many of our coaches will be going back on contract because of new assignments for this school year. We will continue to practice from 4:00pm-7:00pm until the school year starts.

Each day all football players will want to have tennis shoes for the weight room and cleats for the turf practice field. Also players are encouraged to bring their own water so they have what they need when we are outside.
