We hope your summer is going well! Just wanted to remind you that time is running out quickly to order your State Championship Rings. Please follow the directions below and order ASAP.

Under the “Team Files” tab, you will find a Ring Cost Letter that was developed by Balfour (our ring company). Mr. Mike Foltz, Balfour’s Regional Director, is handling our account. The "Cost Letter" has information about the rings, a picture of the ring, and payment information.

VERY IMPORTANT - Within the “cost letter” there is a link to a google form. This form will collect the important information need for the rings (Sizes, Names, Numbers, etc…) The form will send your information directly to Mr. Foltz so we can be accurate.

• The banquet will begin at 7:00pm in the cafeteria. As a reminder, all associated with the team are invited and welcome.

• There will be some old jerseys for sale. 20$ per jersey, first come first served. We do not have all numbers, and they are old haha.

What an incredible weekend! Thank you to all that helped make it so special for the boys. It truly was a day that we will never forget.

A few of items that I want to mention:

• Tomorrow is our End of the Season Banquet. The banquet will begin at 7pm in the cafeteria, for both JV and Varsity. We will eat first, followed by our presentation.
• We have begun the process of designing Championship Shirts. We will also be making a championship gear site that you can purchase all kinds of items to show off our accomplishment. More information will be coming. 
• The State Championship Ring process has begun. More information will be coming as well.
• Summer Helmet Check Out – If you need a helmet for the summer, we can check one out to you tomorrow evening. You will sign your helmet out, and are liable to return them in the same condition at the start of next school year.

Welcome to States Week! This is the last week of the season. This week brings a lot of fantastic memories. Let’s all work together to ensure that we enjoy these next 6 days. Practices may extend a little this week to ensure we cover everything we need to.

Here is the weekly schedule:

Monday 6/6 – Practice 4:15-6:45pm

Tuesday 6/7 – Home Game vs. Deep Run (State Semi-Final) @ 5:30pm.

• Players, please wear blue shirts, red socks.
• Pick up Jerseys at 4:05pm. We will meet @ 4:15pm.
• There will be no team meal before the game. Please pack a snack to eat at 4pm.

Wednesday 6/8 – Practice 4:15-6:45pm

Thursday 6/9 – Practice 4:15-6:45pm

Friday 6/10 – Practice 4:15-6:15pm

• Possible Team Meal @ 7:30pm. Information will be relayed.

Saturday 6/11 – Home Game vs. TBD (State Final) @ 12:00pm

• Players, please wear white shirts, blue socks.
• Players, please wake up @ 8:00am and take a shower. Eat a good breakfast by 9am. Report time @ school is 9:30am.
• Be sure to bring all equipment and gear that was issued to you. As well as and extra bag to bring home your things.

Fans, we will be wearing white for both games. Please do the same and be as loud as possible. We loved the “Defense” chants last game. We are excited for a great week!

A couple of updates I wanted to send out to you all:

• Due to a change in schedule (outside of lacrosse), we need to move our banquet time back an hour. Our banquet will still be on Tuesday 6/14; however, we will now be starting at 7:00pm. We will eat first, then proceed with the evening.

Congratulations to our boys for earning a spot in the state playoffs for the 5^th straight year. Also, earning an opportunity to win our 5^th straight regional title.

Please remember, lets continue to be as positive as we can be in the stands. Cheering on our boys, not cheering against the other team or officials. We as coaches and the athletic administration will do our best to be sure the game is managed from our side.

Great game last night by our boys, they played hard and methodical. Tomorrow is the Regional Semi-Final game. Winning tomorrow will earn us a spot in the Regional Final as well as punch our ticket to the state tournament. We play a very good Patrick Henry team from Roanoke @ 5:30pm at home.

Please wear white and be loud! This is the biggest game we have had in a while. Let’s pack the stands and show the state the special program we have here at Riverside.

Congratulations to the players on our 5^th conference championship in 7 years. A lot of work goes into achieving that goal and you should be proud of your accomplishment. Proud, but not content. We still have a lot of work ahead of us to climb that next mountain. With this being a busy week ahead, I wanted to get the schedule out in advance of Sunday.

1. We have advanced to the District Championship Game. Due to multiple schedule conflicts in our stadium, the game will be played at Briar Woods High School (neutral site). Game time is Thursday 5/19 @ 7:15pm vs. Independence.
2. Slight change for practice today. We will be starting at 5:15pm in the weight room. Ending around 7:15pm.

The Playoffs are here! The boys had a fantastic practice this week and a very memorable river run.

As the week progresses, we will know about time/location specifics. I will communicate those as soon as possible.

With Prom at the end of the week, lets be sure to make good decisions. ALL IN.

Also, please remember that as the playoffs continue, hopefully we will earn the chance to practice on Memorial Day. We will have practice in the morning on that day, as we have always done. That will allow for family BBQs and time spent in the afternoon.

What a great season for program! They JV team went 11-3 with only loses being to private schools, and a tough 6A program. They improved every single day and seeing the change in the JV from Day 1 to last night was fantastic. Hats off to all the players and coaches for a fantastic season. The future remains very bright!

With the win last night our varsity team secured the regular season district championship, #1 seed in the district tournament, a first round bye, and an automatic bid to the region tournament.

Thank you to all of the parents that helped make senior night so special for our 14 young men. You all did a great job, and we are truly grateful for your help!

The next Varsity game will be Home on Tuesday 5/17 @ 7:15pm. We will play the winner of Woodgrove/Stone Bridge.

A couple of requests moving forward:

• It has been a tradition in the playoffs to bring out your cow bells and be loud. We love chants and cheers for our players, they feed off of it!
• I ask that our awesome parents help ensure that we have concessions for all home games. When we have a boy’s/girl’s double header (like Tuesday) I ask that our parents work the concessions for the girl’s game, and then the girl’s parents will work concessions for our game. It is an easy way to make money back to our program, and more importantly it is the right thing to do.

It has arrived! Scrimmage week. Big week ahead for our players to get things fine-tuned before the start of the season. A few notes first:

• We still have some players that need to pay their spirit pack fee. That is located on the riverside payment portal. If you have any problem with payment, please come see Coach Worek.
• Fundraising: We are still pushing out our ETeamSponsors fundraiser. Please remember to share with family and friends, you can always add emails over the next month. Also, don’t forget the sponsorship signs that is run through the athletic boosters!
• Team Store: Don’t forget there is still time to purchase some extra gear!

This Weeks Schedule:

Monday 3/7 – Away Scrimmages @ Robinson High School (JV 5:30, Varsity 7:15)

• JV Players report by 3:00pm. (Earlier if you need treatment/tape)
• Varsity Players Report by 4:00pm (Earlier if you need treatment/tape)
• All players, bring everything with you. You will be wearing White helmets, Blue Shooting shirts, black shorts, and practice jerseys.
• May be wet, so bring dry clothes for the drive home.

Tuesday 3/8 – Practice 4:15-6:15pm (Practice Turf)

Wednesday 3/9 – Home Scrimmages vs. Battlefield High School (JV 6:00pm, Varsity 7:15pm)

• JV Players report @ 4:30pm

What a great first week to the season! The players have worked so hard and have already shown improvement in just 6 practices. A couple of notes for this week.

• Spirit Pack Payment. All players have been issued a spirit pack. The payment for that gear is now up on the Riverside Payment Portal, “Boys Lacrosse Spirit Pack”. Payment is $140. If a player has any situation with completing payment, please come see Coach Worek.
• Fundraising. We will be participating in an ETeamSponsor fundraiser this year. Each player has been given a fundraising sheet. Please fill the sheet out with as many emails as possible. The best emails are those for family and friends that are out of town.
  • We have not raised money for 3 years. Therefore, we have many needs for the program. We are raising money to facilitate the following (many of which have already been purchased): Spirit Pack Cost Reduction, Balls, New Helmets, Hudl Services, New Jerseys, Ring Cost Reduction, New pads for beginning players, as well as other costs that arise throughout the season.
  • No one is required to participate.  We do not require players to give a certain number of email addresses, or raise a certain amount of money.  The amount of money raised by each athlete is not tracked, communicated, or discussed with students or parents.   
• Parent Meeting 3/2 @ 7:00pm

The season is finally here! I usually send out the weekly schedule on Sunday but I am super excited, so I figured I would send it out a little early. Monday looks like a perfect day weather wise to kick off our 2022 campaign.

Here is how next week looks:

Monday 2/21 – Tryout 1 & 2. 8:00am-2:00pm

• We will be having 2 tryouts this day. The first one is 8:00-10:00am. The second will be from 12:00-2:00pm. Please be sure you are on time. 
• Players are not permitted to leave in between practices. We will be holding meetings.
• Please bring a lunch to eat in between practices, and a change of clothes (socks, underwear, tshirt, ect..) You want to be able to put dry clothes on for the second practice.

Tuesday 2/22 – Tryout 3. 4:15-6:15pm

• Tuesday morning, you will be able to put your equipment in the team room for the day. We will lock that door @ 9:15am. The locker room will be unlocked after school. Do not ask your teacher for early dismissal. You have plenty of time to get to the locker room, change, and get to practice. You need to move quickly.

Wednesday 2/23 – Tryout 4. 4:15-6:15pm

• This is the final tryout.
• Please plan on stay after for a bit longer. We hold player meetings with each player.

Thursday 2/24 – Practice 6:30-8:30am

• This is a rare, mid-week, morning practice. Be sure to bring items to shower and get ready for school. You will have 45 minutes after practice, before the school day begins.

Friday 2/25 – Practice 4:15-6:15pm

Saturday 2/26 – Practice 8-11am

We are now 1 week away from the start of the 2022 campaign! Reminder that we have two very important event this week!

• Tomorrow, Tuesday 2/15, @ 4:10pm in room 1807. We have an important interest meeting for anyone planning on trying out. Information on tryouts will be handed out.
• Thursday 2/17, @ 4:10pm in room 1130. We will hold our 2022 equipment handout team meeting with our conditioning test. This usually lasts about 2 hours. We should be done no later then 6:15pm. Be sure to bring water, cleats, and sweats.

Two mandatory dates to keep in mind coming your way this morning.

• There will be a mandatory meeting for all interested in trying out for lacrosse this season next Tuesday 2/15/2022 @ 4:15 in room 1807. Please spread the news and bring those players who are considering playing.
• Next Thursday 2/17/2020 we consider the “first day” of the season. We will be passing out equipment, checking paperwork, and having our conditioning test. Please meet in room 1130A (across from the cafeteria) at 4:15pm. We should be finished by 6:15pm.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the snow and long weekend. Please remember that if there is ever a school cancelation any lacrosse events are also canceled that day unless otherwise communicated. If there is ever a delay on a lifting morning, lifting that day is canceled.

With that said, tomorrows scheduled green day is up in the air. As of now the field is covered with snow and ice. We will make a decision for tomorrow around 1pm. We will send an email and post the status of the green day once we see if there is any melting.

• We are opening a preseason team store. This team store is for fans. Nothing is required, we just wanted to give you all some options so you can represent our brand in the stands.(Reminder, players will be issued their required spirit pack items once/if they make the program. First of all, we hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday season and that you and your loved ones were able to stay healthy and covid free.

We wanted to give you all an update on were we are as a program for our preseason training as of now until the start of the season. With new covid regulations some things have changed:

• There will be NO LACROSSE ACTIVITES until 1/18.
  • LCPS has put all out of season sports activities on pause until that date. The idea is to try and limit any spread with this surge by pausing out of season training for a couple of weeks.
• Sessions after 1/18:
  • Lifting: Every Tuesday and Thursday morning 7:15am-8:15am
    • Be sure to bring warm clothes, cleats, and water to go outside and run.
  • Stick Work: Monday 1/24 and Monday 2/7
    • 4:15pm-5:00pm on the Practice Turf
  • Green Day Practice: Wednesdays @ 6:00pm in the Stadium
    • Full equipment. Full Sweats. Bring Water

*Please Note – If school is every canceled there will be no pre-season lacrosse activity that day. If there is any delay in the morning, there will be no lifting that morning.

We have finally received schedule and logistics for the Turkey Shootout on Sunday. We are all super excited about the opportunity to play again. The weather looks fantastic and our schedule looks to be the most difficult pool.

Our Schedule is as followed (we are on the middle field next to the stadium):

• 8:00am vs. Langley
• 9:30am vs. Walt Whitman (MD)
• 11:45am vs Loudoun County
• 2:00pm vs Meridian

If we advance to the playoffs, games will be at 4:00pm and 4:30pm.

Players, please arrive no later then 7:15am. Warm-Ups will begin at 7:30am. Please wear the same items we wore at St. Johns.

Lastly, be aware of an email coming to you from the Turkey Shootout. It will contain parking and logistic information.

Every year players that make our program purchase spirit pack items. This is an essential part of our program. It allows us to look like a team in everything that we do. It also allows us to practice accountability for our belongings. We pre order our items so that when the team is made, players will receive their gear the next day. After that, we will collect payment via the payment portal (after February 24^th).

Usually our packs are around $140.00. Players receive team issued Under Armour clothes/game socks/laundry service (for game uniforms)/decals/mouth pieces and other items. These will function to keep players warm, as practice/game/travel attire, and items that they will wear with pride for all 4 years at Riverside.

What a FANTASTIC weekend of lacrosse we just had. I speak for all the coaches in saying Thank You to the parents for all of your efforts in putting on two great days. I know the boys had a blast at both events and it was a terrific time to bond as teammates. Hopefully you met someone new and started some friendships that will last a lifetime!

Next up is the Turkey Shootout. This is an annual “Varsity Level” event we have participated in every year. This event is open to any 11^th-12^th graders, and any returning 10^th grade Varsity Players.

I hope this finds everyone well! A couple of updates that I wanted to shoot your way.

• We will be lifting this Thursday morning 11/18 from 7-8:15am & next Tuesday 11/23 from 7-8:15am
• There will be a very important meeting with all returning Varsity players at 8:45am on Thursday 11/18. Please plan to be there, and please do not be late. We will meet in the auditorium.
• We will have a Green Day practice from 6-8pm on Thursday 11/18 and Friday 11/19 in the stadium. If you are playing this weekend, it is essential that you are there. Please communicate with coaches if you can not attend.
• JV Fall Brawl – Saturday 11/20. Looks like it will be a great day for some 7v7 lacrosse! "Fun" is the key word for the day. It will be a great opportunity to get out, have a great time, and bond a program. Games begin at 9am, so we ask players to arrive no later then 8:15am so that you can locate the team and get organized/warmed up. All games should be over by 3:00pm. Per Coach Florczyk's earlier email, if you are a parent willing to help organize a tailgate/team camp for the day, please contact Coach Florczyk ASAP. We have had no one step up to this point.
• Varsity Atlantic Coast Showcase – Sunday 11/21. We have received our schedule.
  • Our games will be 10am, 12pm, and 2pm. All three games will be on Quinn Field.
  • All players please arrive at St. Johns College High School no later then 9am.
  • Players please wear: Blue UA Practice Shorts, Grey Undershirts, Grey Sweats, Blue Stripe Game Socks. You can layer if its cold, but please have the grey shirt showing. If you have any issues with this, please come see Coach Worek before Friday.
  • Be sure to bring back up sticks, water, mouth pieces and athletic cups.
  • Address: 2607 Military Rd NW, Washington, DC 20015 . It will take approximately 1 hour to travel to St. Johns. Please be sure you plan accordingly so that you are not rushing.
  • More information regarding parking and logistics will be coming out this week as soon as I receive them.

We are now in the middle of our fall program. We have been lifting, having green day practice, and competing in the VEL League. We just wanted to express how proud we are of the effort to this point. This is how you win multiple championships, you put in the work.
